Recap: Plainwell Trojans vs. Mattawan Wildcats
The Plainwell Trojans were the 50-41 winner over the Mattawan Wildcats when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Plainwell took a 54-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mattawan on Tuesday. Plainwell has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
It was another big night for Delaney Elsmore, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and four steals for Mattawan. The contest was Elsmore's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Hinkley, who scored ten points.
Plainwell has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season. As for Mattawan, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-4.
Plainwell will head out on the road to face off against Otsego at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Otsego will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak. As for Mattawan, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Portage Central at 7:00 p.m. on January 12th. Portage Central presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Mattawan in Michigan (Portage Central is ranked 50th, while Mattawan is ranked 413th).
