On Monday, Morton faced Lanier in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Morton Panthers took a 55-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lanier Bulldogs. The Panthers' defeat signaled the end of their 12-game winning streak.

Morton's loss dropped their record down to 14-6. As for Lanier, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season.
