Soccer Game Preview: Flagstaff vs. Chaparral

The Flagstaff Eagles will square off against the Chaparral Firebirds at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams each escaped with close wins against their previous opponents.

Chaparral will be up against a hot Flagstaff team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. Flagstaff never let Coconino onto the board and left with a 1-0 victory on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Tuesday Chaparral sidestepped Hamilton for a 2-1 win. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Firebirds' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona soccer rankings (they are ranked 41st, while the Huskies are ranked ninth).

Tristan Hill and Cole Christensen scored both of Chaparral's goals, which were season-firsts for both players.

Flagstaff pushed their record up to 4-3 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those three games. As for Chaparral, their victory bumped their record up to 3-5-2.
