Basketball Game Preview: Miramonte Matadors vs. College Park Falcons

Miramonte and College Park are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Miramonte Matadors will face off against the College Park Falcons at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Miramonte is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Northgate on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Miramonte came up short against Northgate, falling 87-62. The loss continues a trend for the Matadors in their matchups with the Broncos: they've now lost four in a row.

Meanwhile, College Park entered their tilt with Mt. Diablo on Friday with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. They took their game with ease, bagging an 80-45 win over the Red Devils. The Falcons' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Miramonte better focus on containing Elijah Smith and Miles Cooper as the pair were huge in College Park's win. Smith posted 16 points, while Cooper earned 14 points. Luciano Nascimento was another key player, putting up nine points.

College Park has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 13-7 record this season. As for Miramonte, they now have a losing record at 10-11.

Miramonte didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against College Park in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, but they still walked away with a 68-63 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was College Park's Connor Whittles, who scored 27 points.
