Wednesday just wasn't the day for Liberty North's offense. They fell 5-0 to the Platte County Pirates on Wednesday. The Eagles' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Liberty North got a good showing from Chase Devalkenaere, who tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Devalkenaere has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single hit any time he's pitched this season.

Liberty North's defeat dropped their record down to 6-2. As for Platte County, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-0.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Liberty North will take on Grain Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Platte County, they will venture away from home to challenge Staley at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Falcons will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something the Pirates surely won't give up without a fight.
