Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Charleston, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They pulled ahead with a 29-28 photo finish over Mattoon on Saturday.

Charleston's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-7 and their overall record up to 5-19. As for Effingham, their loss dropped their record down to 20-7.

Everything came up roses for Effingham against Charleston when the teams last played back in December of 2024, as the team secured a 73-14 win. Will Effingham repeat their success, or does Charleston have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
