Basketball Game Preview: NSU University Sharks vs. Marathon Dolphins

The NSU University Sharks will challenge the Marathon Dolphins at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

NSU University is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 76-4 win over Somerset Academy. The victory was nothing new for the Sharks as they're now sitting on six straight.

NSU University found their leader in sophomore Laly Luque, who went 11 for 14 on her way to 23 points and eight rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Luque has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenna Cohen-Osceola, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 boards.

NSU University smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Meanwhile, Marathon made easy work of Key West on Wednesday and carried off a 60-34 win. With the Dolphins ahead 34-12 at the half, the game was all but over already.

NSU University pushed their record up to 15-4 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.3 points per game. As for Marathon, the win got them back to even at 7-7.

NSU University strolled past Marathon in their previous matchup back in December of 2024 by a score of 65-46. The rematch might be a little tougher for NSU University since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
