Soccer Game Preview: North Fort Myers vs. Gulf Coast

The North Fort Myers Red Knights will head out on the road to challenge the Gulf Coast Sharks at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. North Fort Myers is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 5.4 goals per game this season.

North Fort Myers is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. They were the clear victor by a 9-1 margin over Ida Baker on Tuesday. Considering the Red Knights have won five matchups by more than two goals this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

They hit Ida Baker with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Hannah Busenbark (6), Jaelyn Hoefer (2), and Kenlee Dominguez.

Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 0-0 at halftime, Gulf Coast was not quite Barron Collier's equal in the second half on Monday. They fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 1-0. The Sharks have struggled against the Cougars recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

North Fort Myers has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 22 goals over those four games. As for Gulf Coast, their loss dropped their record down to 3-7-1.

Everything went North Fort Myers' way against Gulf Coast in their previous meeting back in December of 2021, as North Fort Myers made off with a 5-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for North Fort Myers since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
