Soccer Game Preview: Staunton vs. Waynesboro

Staunton hasn't had much luck against Waynesboro recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Storm will square off against the Little Giants at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Staunton is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. Their defense stepped up to hand Rustburg a 4-0 shutout.

Meanwhile, Waynesboro came tearing into last Thursday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4 goals), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Indians with a sharp 8-0 win. That's two games straight that Waynesboro have won by exactly eight goals.

Waynesboro pushed their record up to 12-3-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those four contests. As for Staunton, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4-1 record this season.

Staunton might still be hurting after the 4-1 loss they got from Waynesboro in their previous matchup on May 8th. Can the Storm avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
