Basketball Recap: Oxford Academy Victorious

Oxford Academy hadn't done well against Artesia recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Oxford Academy Patriots managed a 57-52 win over the Artesia Pioneers. This was a revenge game for the Patriots: when they faced off against the Pioneers on January 7th, they had to take a 56-51 loss.

Artesia's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of CJ Okeke, who went 8 of 10 on his way to 20 points and seven boards, and Christian Stewart, who went 5 for 7 en route to 13 points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jaylen Reed, who posted five points and six boards.

The victory made it two in a row for Oxford Academy and bumps their season record up to 13-8. As for Artesia, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-7.

Oxford Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 71-27 win against Glenn on the 24th. Artesia has also already played their next contest, a 69-16 victory against Westminster on the 23rd.
