Basketball Recap: Larissa Jones' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Oneida over Pigeon Forge

Oneida lost against Pigeon Forge two weeks ago, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Oneida Indians fell 50-41 to the Pigeon Forge Tigers. The Indians have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Oneida lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Larissa Jones, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. The matchup was her third in a row with at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Elisabeth Zachary, who posted nine points.

Even though they lost, Oneida smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. This was only their third loss (out of ten games) when they hit their own glass that hard.

Oneida's loss dropped their record down to 11-19. As for Pigeon Forge, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-13 record this season.

Oneida didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 51-44 defeat against Hampton on the 28th. As for Pigeon Forge, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 56-37 loss against Chuckey-Doak on the 28th.
