League recap: Mosley rises in state rank

Mosley moved up to 275 from 352 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 5A District 1. The Dolphins climbed the ranks as a result of besting Chiles 54-53.

Mosley and the Timberwolves played the closest game in the league this week, with Mosley eventually emerging with a 54-53 victory.

Xavier Longerbeam was a passing and rushing force as Bay fell to Tate. He completed 10 passes for 166 yards and also ran for 14 yards. Longerbeam's favorite target this week was Travion Turrell, who caught 4 passes for 77 yards.

Cody Henry put up the best numbers through the air as Pensacola Catholic bested Pensacola. He finished with 8 completions for 108 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Turrell was the best receiver in the league this week as the Tornadoes fell to the Aggies. Robert Monroe helped Bay's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 44 yards.

Raekwon Webb was the best running back in 5A District 1 this week. He ran for 109 yards on 27 carries as Bay lost to Tate.

The leading receiver in the league this season is Michael Layfield. The Bay star has 6 catches for 174 yards.

At the moment, the Crusaders are in second, while Jimmy Longerbeam's team is in fourth.

The league will see a high scoring game when Pensacola Catholic and the Tornadoes face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Greg Seibert's team comes in having scored 90 this season, while Bay has scored 64. The Crusaders scored 14 points last week as they beat the Tigers.

Arnold took down Freeport 56-28 last week, the largest margin of any game.
