Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Indiana School for the Deaf, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 23-12 margin over Providence Cristo Rey on Wednesday. That 11 run margin sets a new team best for the Deaf Hoosiers this season.
Tiana Starayev made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (three). She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jaiden Moses, who fired off three triples, six RBI, and two runs while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Makayla Schools, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.
Indiana School for the Deaf was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .652. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Indiana School for the Deaf's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-9. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.3 runs over those games. As for Bethesda Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 9-9.
