Soccer Game Preview: Gilbert Christian vs. Palo Verde

The Gilbert Christian Knights will square off against the Palo Verde Titans at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Gilbert Christian comes in on ten and Palo Verde on three.

Gilbert Christian's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past ALA - West Foothills 1-0. Given the Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona soccer rankings (they are ranked 36th, while the Guardians are ranked 134th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Palo Verde won against Pusch Ridge Christian Academy last Tuesday with four goals and they decided to stick to that goal total again on Tuesday. Palo Verde walked away with a 4-2 win over Seton Catholic. That's two games straight that the Titans have won by exactly two goals.

Gilbert Christian pushed their record up to 14-3-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 47 goals over those seven games. As for Palo Verde, their win bumped their record up to 15-5-3.

Gilbert Christian was able to grind out a solid victory over Palo Verde in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, winning 3-1. Does Gilbert Christian have another victory up their sleeve, or will Palo Verde turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
