Soccer Game Preview: Valley Vista vs. Willow Canyon

Valley Vista hasn't had much luck against Willow Canyon recently, but that could start to change on Friday. Both will round out the year against one another at at 3:00 p.m. Willow Canyon took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Valley Vista, who comes in off a win.

If Willow Canyon heads into halftime all tied up, they better play a good second half: that's when Valley Vista took over last week. Valley Vista walked away with a 3-1 win over Westwood on Wednesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Monsoon.

Abby Slade and Veronica Rodriguez scored all three of Valley Vista's goals, bringing their combined season tally to eight goals.

Meanwhile, Willow Canyon was not able to break out of their rough patch last Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 4-2 to Arizona College Prep. The game was a 2-2 toss-up at halftime, but the Wildcats couldn't quite close it out.

The victory got Valley Vista back to even at 3-3-1. As for Willow Canyon, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3-1.

Valley Vista came up short against Willow Canyon when the teams last played back in February of 2021, falling 4-2. Can Valley Vista avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
