 Nichols was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight  defeat. They lost  12-3 to the New Hartford Spartans.
 Nichols saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Reyes Rodriguez, who  went 2-for-2 with a  stolen base and  an  RBI.
 Even though they lost, Nichols  hit smart and  finished the game with only one  strikeout. That's the fewest  strikeouts they've managed all season.
 Nichols' loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for New Hartford, their win bumped their record up to 9-3.
 Nichols will look to defend their home field  on Monday against Sacred Heart Academy at 4:30  p.m. Sacred Heart Academy is coming into the  matchup with five straight  victories on the road,  so Nichols will have to stop a  team with plenty of momentum. As for New Hartford, they will  take on Vernon-Verona-Sherrill at 4:30  p.m.  on Monday. New Hartford is facing Vernon-Verona-Sherrill at the right time seeing as Vernon-Verona-Sherrill is stuck on  a  six-game losing streak.
