Basketball Recap: Freedom Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Josh Devore and Trey Hill

Freedom played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 68-48 to the Sunlake Seahawks. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 516th, while the Seahawks are ranked 175th).

Trey Hill and Josh DeVore certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Hill posted 18 points, while DeVore had 11 points.

Leading Sunlake to victory were Nelson Marshall and Christopher Murray. Marshall put up 14 points, while Murray almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine boards. The game was Murray's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Tahir Mohamed, who scored eight points.

Freedom dropped their record down to 6-9 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Sunlake, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-4.

Freedom didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 58-52 win against Lake Wales on the 11th. Sunlake has also already played their next match, a 60-54 victory against Cypress Creek on the 15th.
