Basketball Recap: West Jefferson Falls Despite Big Games from Akeelah Harris and Savannah Washington

West Jefferson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss. They fell 37-27 to the West St. John Rams. The Buccaneers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rams apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2019.

Despite the loss, West Jefferson had strong showings from Savannah Washington, who posted 12 points, and Akeelah Harris, who earned eight points. Those eight points gave Harris a new career-high.

West Jefferson's defeat dropped their record down to 7-21. As for West St. John, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 9-11 record this season.

Coming up, West Jefferson won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Phoenix at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for West St. John, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Covenant Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m.
