Basketball Game Preview: Stewartville Tigers vs. Byron Bears

The Stewartville Tigers are taking a road trip to challenge the Byron Bears at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Stewartville comes in on seven and Byron on ten.

Fans were treated to a Battle of the Tigers on Friday. Stewartville breezed past Lake City to the tune of 65-32. Stewartville has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matches by 21 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Audrey Shindelar, who went 8-for-16 on her way to 26 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals. The game was her eighth in a row with at least 18 points. Danika Shindelar was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Meanwhile, Byron faced Goodhue in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. Byron walked away with a 59-47 win over Goodhue.

Byron's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 23-3. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.7 points over those games. As for Stewartville, their win bumped their record up to 18-7.

Stewartville was able to grind out a solid victory over Byron in their previous matchup back in January, winning 59-52. The rematch might be a little tougher for Stewartville since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
