Basketball Preview: Mesa Ridge Grizzlies vs. Falcon Falcons
Having just played yesterday, the Mesa Ridge Grizzlies will get right back to it and host the Falcon Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mesa Ridge is coming into the match hot, having won their last 21 games.
On Thursday, Mesa Ridge didn't have too much trouble with Widefield as they won 69-50. Given the Grizzlies' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 23rd, while the Gladiators are ranked 203rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Falcon didn't have quite enough to beat Palmer Ridge on Monday and fell 51-49.
Despite the loss, Falcon saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Isaak Lane went 6-for-10 en route to 19 points. Thanks to that strong game, Lane now owns an excellent 45.5% shooting accuracy. Tyler Cox was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with nine points and nine boards.
Mesa Ridge pushed their record up to 21-1 with the win, which was their 11th straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.8 points over those games. As for Falcon, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-7.
