Baseball Recap: Frankfort Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Frankfort waltzed into their contest on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 9-4 win over the Bluegrass United Bluehawks.

Bryan Starkey and Gavin Proffitt made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Starkey pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Meanwhile, Proffitt pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has become a key player for Frankfort: the team is 3-1 when he allows at most two hits, but 11-12 otherwise. At bat, Starkey went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI, while Proffitt went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Starkey is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played.

In other batting news, Teagan Crowdus was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Sam Peach, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Frankfort hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 6-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Frankfort now has a winning record of 14-13. As for Bluegrass United, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-16.

Looking ahead, Frankfort will square off against Paul Laurence Dunbar at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bluegrass United does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
