Basketball Recap: Thursday's Victory Is Tri-City Christian's Eighth in Last Nine Outings

If Escondido Charter wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Tri-City Christian, they should've done a better job of containing Jeramiah Turner. The Tri-City Christian Eagles came out on top in a nail-biter against the Escondido Charter Tigers on Thursday, sneaking past 50-48 thanks in part to Turner, who went 8 of 17 en route to 16 points along with five blocks and three steals. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in blocks.

Escondido Charter's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Max Mowrey, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten boards. Mowrey is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Joe Scates, who posted seven points and nine rebounds.

Tri-City Christian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a massive bump to their 11-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.7 points per game. As for Escondido Charter, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-14.

Tri-City Christian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 48-34 win against Point Loma on the 1st. As for Escondido Charter, they are taking a road trip to challenge St. Joseph Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
