Recap: Fontainebleau Bulldogs vs. Salmen Spartans
The Fontainebleau Bulldogs fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against the Salmen Spartans on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 53-52 to the Spartans. Fontainebleau lost against Salmen in their previous head to head back in November of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 50-37 score last time.
Fontainebleau's loss came despite strong showings from Brooklynne Callahan and Isabelle Chevalier. Callahan dropped a double-double on 25 points and 11 rebounds, while Chevalier scored 19 points along with seven rebounds. The game was Callahan's fourth in a row with at least ten points.
Destiny Bennett continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Salmen, dropping a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. Bennett set a new season high mark in steals with five. The team also got some help courtesy of Akayla Mcmooain, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Fontainebleau's defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-5. As for Salmen, the win got them back to even at 10-10.
Fontainebleau will be playing in front of their home fans against Denham Springs at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Denham Springs presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Fontainebleau in Louisiana (Denham Springs is ranked eighth, while Fontainebleau is ranked 50th). As for Salmen, they will head out on the road to face off against Slidell at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
