Baseball Game Preview: Atlantic Sharks vs. Mainland Buccaneers

Atlantic is 8-2 against Mainland since March of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Atlantic Sharks will host the Mainland Buccaneers at 4:30 p.m. Atlantic's pitching crew has only allowed two runs per game this season, so Mainland's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Atlantic hadn't beaten Taylor on the road since April 13, 2021 but that history sure didn't bother them on Friday. Atlantic walked away with a 5-2 victory over Taylor.

Atlantic got a great performance from Jackson Bowman as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over six innings pitched. The dominant performance gave Bowman a new career-high in strikeouts.

At the plate, Atlantic let Jake Cronin and Ezra Goulding run wild. Cronin scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3, while Goulding scored a run while going 3-for-3. Cronin also brought in an RBI, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Jayden Lombardi, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Mainland's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of Seabreeze. The contest marked the Buccaneers' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Helmut Waters made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2. Ryan Allen was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Mainland's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Atlantic, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Atlantic has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Mainland struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Atlantic took their victory against Mainland when the teams last played back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 12-2. Does Atlantic have another victory up their sleeve, or will Mainland turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
