Basketball Game Preview: West Point Warriors vs. Deshler Tigers

The West Point Warriors will venture away from home to challenge the Deshler Tigers at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as West Point comes in on 11 and Deshler on four.

On Monday, West Point got the win against Jasper by a conclusive 61-39. The Warriors have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 22 points or more this season.

West Point's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jaelyn Faulkner, who went 7-for-17 en route to 21 points and four steals. With that strong performance, Faulkner is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. Laklin Shadix was another key player, putting up 13 points in addition to eight rebounds and six steals.

Wilson typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Deshler proved too difficult a challenge. They snuck past the Warriors with a 40-36 win. The 40-point effort marked the Tigers' lowest-scoring matchup of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

West Point's record is now 11-1. As for Deshler, their record now sits at 7-1.

West Point came up short against Deshler in their previous matchup back in November of 2021, falling 76-65. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
