Baseball Recap: Hancock Triumphs

Hancock won the last time they faced Berkeley Springs and things went their way on Monday too. The Panthers came out on top against the Indians by a score of 7-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Panthers.

Logan Hendershot spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up ten Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Blaire Ray, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three stolen bases, and three RBI. He also scored two runs, which is notable because Hancock is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-2 otherwise. Shawn Thomas was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Hancock was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matches.

Hancock's record now sits at 4-2. As for Berkeley Springs, they are on a 25-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-12.

Coming up, Hancock will host Fort Hill at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Berkeley Springs, they will venture away from home to face off against Robert C. Byrd at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday.
