Game recap: Oak Ridge High School Football Team defeats Sheldon

EL DORADO HILLS, Calif. - Ian Book threw three touchdowns and Justin Priest caught three as Oak Ridge (El Dorado Hills, Calif.) beat Sheldon (Sacramento, Calif.) 56-7 on Saturday.

After taking the lead on a Josh Wellman touchdown run in the second quarter, the Trojans were up 41-7 at the half.

Oak Ridge expanded its lead to 49 points entering the fourth quarter. OR scored two times in the third, including once on an Book touchdown pass to Priest.

The El Dorado Hills school scored 34 points in the second quarter on the way to a win. The Trojans scored on a touchdown run by Wellman, a Wellman touchdown run, a touchdown run by Wellman, a touchdown pass by Book to Priest and an Book touchdown pass to Trent Buenzli in the quarter.



Oak Ridge's most effective player was Wellman. The senior running back threw one touchdown and ran for three touchdowns. He has now scored six touchdowns on the season.

Sheldon's only touchdown came on a pass in the first quarter.

OR went into the matchup giving up only 16.7 points per game. The seven points that the Huskies ended with were well below their average of 26.0 coming into the game.

A 63-7 Oak Ridge victory was the result when the squads faced off last season.

The victory was a step in the right direction for the Trojans, who were coming off a 35-0 defeat at the hands of Folsom in its previous game.

Oak Ridge (6-1) goes up against Ponderosa in a Delta River League game matchup next week, while Sheldon (3-4) locks horns with Folsom also in a Delta River League game.
