The Black River Pirates will venture away from home to take on the Northwestern Huskies at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Black River is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.

Black River is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 14 runs on Thursday, they were much more limited against Columbia on Friday. They took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Raiders.

Meanwhile, Northwestern suffered their biggest loss since May 7, 2024 on Tuesday. They lost 17-3 to Waynedale. The Huskies have struggled against the Golden Bears recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Northwestern's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Black River, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.

Black River was able to grind out a solid victory over Northwestern when the teams last played back in April of 2023, winning 10-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
