Volleyball Recap: Piper Fryer's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Notre Dame over Trinity Christian

Notre Dame lost against Trinity Christian back in September and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Fighting Irish took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Warriors. Fighting Irish fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Warriors since Thursday.

The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-15.

Several Fighting Irish players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Piper Fryer, who had 13 digs and two aces. Fryer has been hot recently, having posted two or more aces the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Brayleigh Scheuvront, who had seven digs and six kills.

Trinity Christian was led to victory by Lainey Jackson and Addyson Dunn. Jackson had 16 digs and three aces, while Dunn had 17 assists and three aces. That's the most aces Dunn has posted over her last six matches.

Notre Dame's loss dropped their record down to 8-16. As for Trinity Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-11 record this season.

Notre Dame has already played their next matchup, a 2-1 defeat against Ritchie County on the 14th. Trinity Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
