Football Recap: Jennings County Comes Up Short

Jennings County lost against Seymour back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Panthers were dealt a 44-7 loss at the hands of the Owls. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Jennings County lost, don't look at Cameron Patterson. Despite the final result, he rushed for 103 yards and one TD. Patterson's longest rush was for an incredible 70 yards.

Traysean Hawkins was his usual excellent self, rushing for 167 yards and a pair of scores on only 15 carries, while also picking up 79 receiving yards and one touchdown for Seymour. The dominant performance also gave Hawkins a new career-high in rushing touchdowns (two). Max Coates was another key player, throwing for 149 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 81.2% of his passes.

Jennings County's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Seymour, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-6.

Coming up, Jennings County will square off against Floyd Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers will need to watch out since the Highlanders have now posted at least 31 points in their last five games. As for Seymour, they will take on New Albany at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Owls will be up against the Bulldogs' rather soft defense (which has allowed 39.14 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
