Softball Game Preview: Argo Argonauts vs. Tinley Park Titans

Argo is 0-7 against Tinley Park since April of 2017 but things could change on Thursday. The Argonauts will welcome the Titans at 4:30 p.m. Argo's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so Tinley Park's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Last Tuesday, Argo didn't have quite enough to beat Reavis and fell 6-5.

Meanwhile, Tinley Park came tearing into Wednesday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Braves 12-1. The result was nothing new for the Titans, who have now won five games by 11 runs or more so far this season.

Emily Korduplewski tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Tinley Park let Lilia Flores and Megan Piotrowski run wild. Flores scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2, while Piotrowski scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Flores a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Emily Nuskiewicz, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

Tinley Park always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Tinley Park now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Argo, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 9-2.

Argo might still be hurting after the 8-0 loss they got from Tinley Park in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Argonauts avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
