Baseball Recap: Central Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Central had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with an 8-4 victory over the Palo Verde Valley Yellow Jackets on Thursday. This was a revenge game for the Spartans: when they faced off against the Yellow Jackets on Tuesday, they had to take a 6-5 defeat.

Central got a great performance from Donnovan Diaz as he tossed 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. The Spartans are 2-1 when Diaz allows two or fewer earned runs, but 8-15 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Angel Carrillo was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Central's success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is 3-1 (and 7-15 when he doesn't). Christopher Curiel was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run.

Central lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Central's record is now 10-16. As for Palo Verde Valley, their loss was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 14-12-1.

As of now, neither Central nor the Yellow Jackets have any future games scheduled.
