League recap: Flowing Wells scores huge upset over Casa Grande

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Flowing Wells, who defeated 139th ranked Casa Grande, 28-21. Dionte Flores ran for 72 yards and caught 3 passes for 115 yards during the win.

Maricopa led III Section V in scoring this week by notching 37 points on Marana.

Julio Sandoval provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Caballeros bested the Cougars. He completed 8 passes for 217 yards and also ran for 22 yards. Sandoval's key target this week was Flores, who caught 3 passes for 115 yards.

Jordan Closs-Lopez put up the best numbers through the air as Canyon del Oro topped Catalina Foothills. He finished with 4 completions for 101 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Flowing Wells' offense cannot be tamed this season and the Caballeros feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Sandoval has thrown for 999 yards and 1 touchdown this season, while Satchel Burton has 25 catches for 412 yards.

The Dorados are in first place, while the Rams are in third place.

Flowing Wells made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 12,597 from 13,247. The improvement was the result of a 28-21 victory over Casa Grande last week.
