Softball Game Preview: Randolph County Tigers vs. Woodland Bobcats

Randolph County is on a six-game streak of home wins, while Woodland is on a five-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Tigers will host the Bobcats at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

It was a proper cat-fight when Randolph County challenged Victory Christian on Friday. The Tigers came out on top against the Lions by a score of 5-1.

Hannah Parmer and Gracie Huckeba did most of the damage at the plate: Parmer scored a run while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances, while Huckeba scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Woodland got themselves on the board against Handley on Thursday, but Handley never followed suit. They skirted past the Tigers 1-0. Those one runs were actually the fewest the Bobcats have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

The result came thanks to Railey Williams's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Woodland saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lucy Phillips, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Phillips has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.

Woodland is on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 17 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Randolph County, their victory bumped their record up to 13-6.
