Baseball Recap: Bishop Guilfoyle's Win Ends Four-Game Losing Streak at Home

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Huntingdon, Bishop Guilfoyle was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Chestnut Ridge Lions by a score of 4-1. For the Marauders, this counts as revenge for the 6-2 victory the Lions walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Michael Cacciotti spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Bishop Guilfoyle is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 1-8 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Brody Gartman, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Nick Foor was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Bishop Guilfoyle's win ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-9. As for Chestnut Ridge, they moved to 7-7 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Coming up, Bishop Guilfoyle will be playing in front of their home fans against Bishop McCort at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Chestnut Ridge, they will take on Hollidaysburg at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
