Basketball Recap: Primero Makes It Six in a Row at Home

Primero extended their home winning streak to six games dating back to last season thanks to a huge performance from Brett Kendall. The Primero Bulldogs came out on top against the Springfield Longhorns by a score of 55-44 on Friday thanks in part to Kendall, who went 12 for 22 on his way to 29 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.

The team also got some help courtesy of Xavier Garcia, who posted five points in addition to nine steals and three blocks. Those nine steals gave him a new career-high.

When it comes to explaining why Springfield lost, don't look at Colby Batterton. Despite the final result, he went 7 of 11 from beyond the arc en route to 29 points along with seven boards and five steals. That was a full 65.9% of Springfield's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's put up more than a third of the team's points.

Primero's win bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Springfield, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.

Primero has already played their next contest (against Walsenburg), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Springfield didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 68-44 defeat against Holly on the 18th.
