Baseball Recap: Carmichaels Takes a Loss

Carmichaels had lost five straight at home, but on Friday they dropped down to 5-8 to make it six. They lost 12-3 to the Uniontown Red Raiders. The Mighty Mikes were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Red Raiders apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2025.

Dominic Yazzani was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

As for Uniontown, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 6-9 record. That looming 12-3 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for them yet this season.

On Uniontown's side, Lane Smiley was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Smiley is becoming a predictor of Uniontown's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 3-1 (and 3-8 when he doesn't). Smiley was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brayden Hinzy, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Adam Cramer was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Coming up, Carmichaels will take on Avella at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Uniontown, they will be playing at home against Laurel Highlands at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
