Basketball Game Preview: Leon Cougars vs. LaPoynor Flyers

The Leon Cougars will square off against the LaPoynor Flyers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Leon will be looking to extend their current 15-game winning streak.

Leon is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They walked away with a 47-35 win over Union Grove. That's two games straight that the Cougars have won by exactly 12 points.

LaPoynor meant business on Monday, getting buckets from all over the court against a Hawks squad that has allowed just 28.07 points per contest. LaPoynor snuck past Hawkins with a 68-64 victory. The win was nothing new for the Flyers as they're now sitting on seven straight.

LaPoynor's victory bumped their record up to 25-11. As for Leon, their win bumped their record up to 28-5.

Leon ended up a good deal behind LaPoynor in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, losing 42-26. Can Leon avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
