Softball Game Preview: Willows Honkers vs. Winters Warriors

For the second straight game, Willows will face off against Winters. The Honkers will be playing at home against the Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Willows has given up an average of 15.3 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Willows came up short against Winters on Tuesday, falling 17-5. The defeat continues a trend for the Honkers in their meetings with the Warriors: they've now lost three in a row.

For Winters' part, Erika Garcia was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave Garcia a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Nelson, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Winters always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .656. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Willows only posted an OBP of .481.

Winters is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-13 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Willows, their loss dropped their record down to 3-20.
