Baseball Recap: Danville Beats Central Columbia for Their Sixth Straight Win

Danville came tearing into Thursday's matchup with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.6 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Central Columbia Bluejays by a score of 6-1. That's more bragging rights for the Ironmen, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

The team relied heavily on Garrett Hoffman, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. That double was his first of the season. Madden Patrick was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Danville pushed their record up to 7-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Central Columbia, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.

Coincidentally, Danville and Central Columbia will both be playing Midd-West the next time they take the field. The Ironmen will head out to face the Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, while the Bluejays will host them at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
