Baseball Recap: Chico Wins Going Away Against Cosumnes Oaks

After only one run in their last matchup, Chico made sure to put some runs up on the board against Cosumnes Oaks on Tuesday. The Panthers were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Wolfpack. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won 13 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Jacob Heizer looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jordan Neugebauer was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Jaxon Tweedt, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4.

Chico was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cosumnes Oaks only posted a batting average of .200.

Chico's victory bumped their record up to 18-1. As for Cosumnes Oaks, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-10.

Looking ahead, Chico will take on Lodi in a tournament on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Panthers 1.7, the Flames 2.7) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Cosumnes Oaks, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 6-4 loss against Woodland Christian on the 15th.
