Bishop Neumann is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nebraska's top teams: Norfolk Catholic, who was ranked 16th at the time (Bishop Neumann was ranked 20th). The Cavaliers walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Knights on Tuesday.
Bishop Neumann had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 18-25, 25-23, 25-18, 25-17.
Meanwhile, Scotus hadn't done well against Grand Island Central Catholic recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Shamrocks put the hurt on the Crusaders with a sharp 3-0 win. The Shamrocks not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since September 16th (when they won 3-0).
Scotus never let Grand Island Central Catholic on the board, but things got pretty close in the second set. The final score came out to 25-16, 27-25, 25-18.
Bishop Neumann better keep an eye on Emma Splittgerber. She was instrumental in Scotus' win, getting eight digs and two aces. That's the most digs Splittgerber has posted since back in September.
Scotus picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 10-16. As for Bishop Neumann, their win bumped their record up to 22-6.
Bishop Neumann was able to grind out a solid victory over Scotus in their previous matchup on Thursday, winning 2-0. Do the Cavaliers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Shamrocks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
