Baseball Recap: Northern Durham's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Northern Durham dropped their record down to 8-8 on Friday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins on the road. They came up short against the Chapel Hill Tigers, falling 12-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-0 on Friday.

As for Chapel Hill, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-6. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Chapel Hill's part, Jackson Evans looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. Evans has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, James Staats was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and two RBI. He continues to improve, besting his previous run total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was David Campos, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Chapel Hill beat Northern Durham by a score of 12-0 later that day.
