Volleyball Recap: Bishop Hendricken Comes Up Short in High-Profile Match with Chariho

Bishop Hendricken faced Chariho in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Hawks fell 3-1 to the Chargers. The Hawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Chargers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

The match was exciting from start to finish, as three sets needed extra rallies to gain a two-point lead. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 28-30, 26-24, 27-25, 25-21.

Andrew Ramos paced Bishop Hendricken's offense, picking up 23 kills. Ramos got some help from Benjamin Warr and his 45 assists. Ramos was also solid from the service line: he led the team with five aces.

Jaxson Vachon was his usual excellent self, getting 19 digs and three aces for Chariho. Vachon has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more digs the last 15 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Carter Stolt, who had eight kills, five digs, and four aces.

Bishop Hendricken's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Chariho, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-2.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Bishop Hendricken is set to square off against their familiar foe Cranston West at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Chariho will take on rival Cranston East at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
