Rocky Mountain's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Fort Collins Lambkins. The Lobos have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Lambkins, too.
Rocky Mountain wouldn't go down easily and took Fort Collins into a fifth set where they got it done with a two-point win. The match finished with set scores of 20-25, 25-17, 18-25, 25-11, 16-14.
Anya Rainbolt paced Rocky Mountain's offense, picking up 22 kills. Rainbolt got some help from Abby Duran and her 34 assists. Maryn Whitcomb and Caroline Betten kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with two aces apiece.
Despite the loss, Fort Collins still got an impressive performance from Livi Durham, who had 17 digs and two assists. Durham is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 12 or more in each of the last six games she's played. Ella Marchand also deserves some recognition as she had her first dig of the season.
The victory got Rocky Mountain back to even at 5-5. As for Fort Collins, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.
Rocky Mountain wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-2 defeat against Poudre on the 16th. As for Fort Collins, they have also already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against Greeley West on the 16th.
