Baseball Game Preview: Grayson County Cougars vs. Hopkins County Central Storm

The Grayson County Cougars will take on the Hopkins County Central Storm at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Grayson County's favor as the team sits on six straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Hopkins County Central has been banged up by nine consecutive losses on the road also dating back to last season.

Last Wednesday, Grayson County didn't have quite enough to beat Union County and fell 4-3.

Gage Napier spent all 7.1 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, Grayson County saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cameron Fulkerson, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Fulkerson also hit a double, marking his first of the season.

Meanwhile, Hopkins County Central fell victim to Madisonville-North Hopkins and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They came up short against the Maroons, falling 10-0.

Grayson County's defeat dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Hopkins County Central, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.

Grayson County took their victory against Hopkins County Central in their previous meeting back in May of 2023 by a conclusive 10-0 score. Do the Cougars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Storm turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
