Baseball Recap: Make It 17 in a Row for Seneca

Seneca entered their tilt with Westby on Friday with 16 consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with 17. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Norsemen a 3-0 shutout. For the Indians, this counts as revenge for the 4-3 win the Norsemen walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

The result came thanks to Kaden Roberts's shutout, as he gave up just six hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Gage Wall was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one double.

Seneca's victory was their 11th straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-2. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.2 runs over those games. As for Westby, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 19-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Seneca will challenge Weston at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Silver Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so the Indians' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Westby, they will head out on the road to challenge Viroqua at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
