Basketball Preview: Joppatowne Mariners vs. Bel Air Bobcats

Joppatowne has enjoyed the comforts of home their last six games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Bel Air Bobcats at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Joppatowne knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight matches -- so hopefully the Bobcats like a good challenge.

Last Friday, Joppatowne didn't have too much trouble with the Cougars at home as they won 70-52.

Joppatowne found their leader in underclassman Kishann Smith, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds. Smith hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for nine straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Damian Brooks, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.

Meanwhile, Bel Air entered their tilt with the Eagles with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Bel Air managed a 75-69 victory over the Eagles on Friday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.

Joppatowne has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. As for Bel Air, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

Everything came up roses for Joppatowne against the Bobcats in their previous meeting back in January as the squad secured a 78-51 win. With Joppatowne ahead 44-21 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
