Basketball Recap: Midland Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Midland and Pebble Hills squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Midland had to settle for second. They lost 69-48 to the Pebble Hills Spartans. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 385th, while the Spartans are ranked 88th).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Pebble Hills to victory, but perhaps none more so than Krystal Talavera, who went 7 of 15 en route to 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Sapien, who posted five points in addition to 14 assists and three steals.

Midland has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 17-16 record this season. As for Pebble Hills, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 16 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 25-7 record this season.

Midland does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Pebble Hills, they will challenge North Crowley on Thursday. Pebble Hills is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.4 points per game this season.
