Basketball Game Preview: Keyser Golden Tornado vs. Mountain Ridge Miners

Keyser is on a 13-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Mountain Ridge is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Keyser Golden Tornado will welcome the Mountain Ridge Miners at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mountain Ridge took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Keyser, who comes in off a win.

Keyser is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Berkeley Springs: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Keyser blew Berkeley Springs out of the water with a 71-13 final score. The Golden Tornado have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 24 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Mountain Ridge unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They came up short against Southern, falling 73-50. While losing is never fun, the Miners can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 57th, while the Rams are ranked eighth).

Mountain Ridge's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Keyser, their win bumped their record up to 7-1.

Things could have been worse for Keyser, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 51-34 loss to Mountain Ridge when the teams last played back in December of 2023.
